Clarification on LA HAP vision insurance coverage policy
Due to upcoming changes to LA HAP dental coverage, we anticipate that many of our clients will begin searching for standalone vision plans for 2019. This would be a good time for all providers and clients to review our current LA HAP vision coverage policy, which will remain unchanged in 2019. All LA HAP Policies and Procedures are available here.
Highlights of the LA HAP vision policy:
-
- LA HAP will continue to cover premiums and cost-shares associated with vision plans. In Louisiana, several standalone vision plans are available for purchase directly from the insurer.
-
- LA HAP can only assist with costs covered by the insurer; i.e. cannot cover the full cost of a service that is not offered as part of the insurer’s list of covered benefits.
- LA HAP cannot assist with costs beyond the maximum benefit set by an insurer. For example, if a pair of frames is covered at up to $100 by the insurer, the client must either select a pair of frames under that dollar amount or be prepared to make up the difference themselves.
